‘Looks like the flat is definitely going ahead. I’m hoping I will be in there mid February. Very excited about that! Come to London! I need a lodger. The flat is gorgeous and I have two bathrooms. You can sign on the dole and get it paid for. Bingo! Having said that, if I get a short term tenant then I will go I travelling again too. That’s funny you would like to go to India again. Mina is back there now. V jealous. x’

‘God, it’s all so weird. Everyones leaving… my cousins just headed out to Brazil, says that its 38 degrees out there. Lucky bugger.
Shame to hear that you don’t liek your job – worst thing having to do something that you don’t enjoy – surely life’s not about that? I had a fairly chilled Xmas and NY, which funnily enough was nice. But your impromptu NY evening sounds great – they are always the best nights! Mum and dad’s flat is ready, they are in the process of furnishing it now. I’ve just been bumming around, moving from place to place so as not to outstay my welcome – also tend to get a little bored of one place after a while. Getting itchy feet again – need to leave Lisbon. Not sure if i should head back to the Algarve, London, Liverpool or even back out to India??? Will try to make a decision towards the end of the month (going to hand around for my sister’s birthday).

As I leave my flat to go to the gym Hot Estate Agent is parking up outside. I have butterflies. This has got to be fate. I smile and wave. He waves back. Come on, ask me out.

OMG. He looks HOT. I’ve just bumped into the Hot Estate Agent walking out of my flat on my way to the gym.
‘Hi!’
He smiles broadly.
‘Where have you been?’ I say as we walk along the road in the same direction.
‘Oh, just to the pub,’ he says.
‘So this is you,’ I say as he walks into the entrance of a house. So close, I could come in and we could spend a cosy afternoon together. He looks gorgeous. So fit. Wearing a stripey top and long shorts.
‘Yes.’
I smile.
‘You ignored my call,’ he says.
‘No I didn’t.’
‘I called you.’
‘I was frightened.’
Both a bit clumsy at the unexpectedness of the encounter but can’t stop smiling.
‘Call me when you want to rent your flat out.’
8 September (part 2)
‘I’ll be in the Algarve as of next monday for 7 – 10 days, after that will be heading to UK for a few weeks and then off to India, i suppose? HOw come you decided to stay in London longer?’

‘No problem. Sounds mega stressful. Your India trip sounds great. I was about to go on another trip to SE Asia but decided to stay in London a bit longer. If you go North you can meet some new friends I made in Daramshala. It would be good to see you. Let me know your movements. xx’
7 September (part 2)
‘hey, sorry for not having got back to you. i’ve not really been in one place for all that long (my parents ended up renting the algarve flat out for the whole of august right through until the 10th Sept). Also, my parents seem to arguing a far bit at the moment and so my sisters place hasn’t been the greatest place to be at all times (they are waiting for their lisbon flat to be gutted and redecorated before moving out of my sisters into their own place. So I have just kept moving around between, my sisters, lisbon, the algarve and UK. I shall be heading out to the Algarve next week and will spend a week or two there. After that, back to London. I’ll probably look into flights back to India when I’m there. Will try to get a 6 month visa, head out to SE India and work it out from there. Although I am also interested in visiting northern India (the mountainous parts) as well as Nepal. Not sure where you are or what you’re doing. Let me know. Maybe we can meet up at some point?’

Fast forward 27 years. I’m a hot, successful, kind and affectionate, officially ‘grown up’ girl-about-town. Still in search of The One. It’s New Year’s Eve and I’m in bed. Alone. Tanked up on Valium.
The quest has been active now for the best part of 20 years. I know he’s out there. I just need to find out where and how to find him. Things have got to change.
This is going to be my year. I just know it. So I have decided to document my experiences to amuse more than anything else. In so doing, the creative process may provide some kind of personal enlightenment and help face my demons too. And who knows. The journey may lead me to my prince. And where the chronicles begin.
