22 December (part 3)
‘Great. Have a good trip. Catch up when you get back! R’
Even if he’s shy that will give him the green light. He better send me a message on Christmas Day.
22 December (part 2)
He calls but I’m having a nap – took an Indian Valium earlier! – so don’t pick up. I listen to the voicemail.
‘Rebecca it’s me, I got your message. Travelling tomorrow back on the 28th. I will call you then. Bye’
Cool.
22 December (part 1)
‘B its Rebecca how are you? You know im back! I saw Mina yesterday. She is going back to india on saturday. Im not. Are you in london for christmas? R’
16 December
Mina is back from India and I am having dinner at her place.
‘Have you been in touch with Rich Indian?’
‘No.’
‘He likes you.’
‘Does he?’
‘He can take us out. Shall we call him?’
‘Yes!’
She doesn’t. But it does get me thinking.
10 December (part 2)
‘Hello Fiona
Thanks for getting in touch. I know E and only bumped into him the other day. Spooky! This probably isn’t for me as I don’t have that kind of turnover but thanks for the invitation. Do pass on my regards.
Kindest regards
Rebecca’
10 December (part 1)
OMG. I have just checked my home ‘work’ email and a message from one his workers is sitting there.
‘Hi Rebecca,
I run a group on LinkedIn that I think you might find useful. It is a member-only discussion group for the founders and directors of innovative businesses beyond immediate start up – minimum £250k turnover, with a minimum of 5 staff and ambitions to grow fast. Consultants and professional advisers are excluded. The reason for this is intrinsic to our aim: to create a forum which is about peer to peer learning and valuable discussion with a group of fellow entrepreneurs, rather an environment for selling or self-promotion.
If you have any questions, or are interested in hearing more please feel free to get in contact.
I hope to see you in the group soon.
Regards,
Fiona’
This was sent the day after I bumped into The Entrepreneur. It’s his club. This is either a coincidence or he wanted to get in touch.
25 November
I spot a familiar face in the reflection of the tube window on my way to get my lipo scars removed. My jaws drop when the realisation hits. I keep my eyes fixed ahead. Did he see me?
Rush off the train hoping he will stay ahead. There’s no escape. It’s a one stop train. I feel him sidling up next to me. Then a hand playfully pulls my hair. I start smiling, still eyes fixed looking straight ahead with no eye contact.
‘Hello,’ he says.
‘Hello,’ I say breaking into a smile. I peer upwards. He’s tall. Through my lashes into his face.
‘Do you work here now?’
‘No. Why?’ I ask.
‘I thought you might be on your way to work…’ That is what happened the last time. ‘What are you up to?’
‘Seeing someone… in Essex… What are you up to?’ I ask politely.
‘Going home.’
We both smile kindly.
‘Well, it’s nice to see you again,’ he goes on.
I look him properly in they eyes beaming then wave him off emphatically.
I can’t stop smiling as he walks off. I wish I looked hotter! I’ve just come from the gym and my make needs freshening big time. Not bad. But not good. He looked better in the flesh than the reflection.
There were so many things I could have said. I wonder if he’ll get in touch. I hop so, sadly for me. I don’t think he will though. This is the closure I sought. A friendly parting exchange with The Entrepreneur.
‘When I grow up I’m going to marry a prince,
